writing a post

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at October 30th, 2009

I wasn’t planning on writing anything this morning but I feel that I HAVE TO. Right now, I’m in the middle of the air on my Delta flight to California and there is free wi-fi!! I mean, I’m currently watching Curb Your Enthusiasm on demand and surfing the internet all while up in the air. Pretty cool, right? I think so. I’m so excited. Okay, enough!

Desire to inspire.

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at October 28th, 2009

corneliaadams-udomIf you didn’t already know, I am taking the plunge, cutting the umbilical chord and moving to New York City this January. Along with all the excitement building up, I’m also going to have to start searching for an apartment soon. So it only makes me wonder how I am going to be decorating my cute, tiny apartment. While searching on Craigslist, I’m making sure to find something with exposed brick and wood floors (oh, and within my budget!) Anyways, I wanted to share with you Desire To Inspire, a home design blog which dedicates its posts to the most beautiful spaces around the world. I hope it inspires you as much as it inspires me!

ciao,

E

Halloween!

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at October 28th, 2009

halloween_vintageGood evening my lovelies! I hope your week has been going great. Mine has been full of classes, missing someone, and waiting around for a certain letter to come in the mail. As we already know, Halloween is only two days away! What are you dressing up as? Today I picked up a vintage shabby wedding dress at Good Will so I’m thinking of being some sort of ghost bride. Not too sure. However, I do know that I will be in Southern California this weekend! So whatever I choose to be, I know I’ll be having a great time.

Back from the city!

Ahh! After a lovely, amazing, beautiful weekend in New York City I’ve somehow made it back to Miami. Yes, I’m sad I couldn’t just stay but hey- at least I do not have to wait more than 2 months to finally be living over there!  This time spent in NYC was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I could sit here for hours rambling about it but I’ll spare you all and just leave you with some pictures!

Chanel RTW Spring 2010

If you didn’t already know, Paris Fashion Week is going on right now. What does that mean for me? New Chanel show. Here are a few of my favorite looks from the new hoe-down inspired collection. I’m thinking Karl must have spent some time in the french country side because this show is like nothing I’ve ever seen him do. Hay? Okay. Oh, and Lily Allen performed.

Vintage Chanel

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at October 4th, 2009

Hello my lovelies! Tonight I’d like to share one of my favorite Chanel shows. Yes, I know it’s technically not “vintage” but it is still amazing. So here it is, the Chanel Haute Couture Fall Winter 2008-2009 show! Everything about this is amazing. The music, the huge organ, and especially that wedding dress in the end!

Ps- Does anyone recognize that hot pink one shoulder dress from anywhere? It’s the dress Rachel Zoe had Karl cut up specifically for Cameron Diaz. Love.

Missed Connections..

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at October 4th, 2009

Okay you know you secretly check missed connections every once in awhile…right?! I’ll admit it. Especially when I was in New York! Brooklyn based artist, Sophie Blackwall, saw something more in these missed connections. She sees poetry and art. That’s why she picks a few of her favorite NYC missed connection posts and illustrates them!

The Cake…

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at October 4th, 2009

I spent most of my Saturday making/building/decorating this cake. It wasn’t easy. The story behind the cake is that my mom has this friend, Luli, that she has known for years. However my mom hadn’t heard from her in years and thanks to Facebook they were able to reconnect. So my mom thought it would be a great idea if we made her a “Facebook Cake.” We didn’t really know what we were getting ourselves into. Fondant isn’t so easy to work with. So here are some pictures! I don’t think the cake turned out too bad. Plus the birthday girl loved it! So that’s what counts…

IMG_3562Adding color to the fondant. Not easy. My arms are in pain today…

IMG_3575My mom and I took turns rolling out the fondant. It’s hard labor!

IMG_3581Laying the fondant over the cake..

IMG_3583IMG_3595IMG_3607The finish product. I’m not sure why there is a flag there but my mom said she has that bumper sticker on her profile. Yeah, its messy and what not but it gets the point accross!

Coco Before Chanel.

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at October 4th, 2009

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXgadImjfRQ&hl=en&fs=1&]

I loved Amelie and when I found out Audrey Tautou played Coco Chanel in the new movie Coco Before Chanel, I KNEW I had to go see this. Unfortunately it’s only playing in L.A and New York City right now. However, if I do remember correctly I happen to be going to the city in two weeks. I’m gonna have to watch it! I’ll let you guys know how it is!

What is messy, ugly, and brown all over…

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at October 1st, 2009

Answer- my hair (at least recently)
IMG_3333
Ah, how I miss the days of long luscious locks! I’m mad at every single one of my friends for letting my cut my hair! Sure, I enjoyed the bob for some time and yes, donating those 12 inches to Locks of Love felt great but my hair is drowning in what most would call the awkward phase. How have I been coping? Well, some days I’ll have a messy up do with loads of bobby pins and then there are those days where I’m hating the world and let it lay loose despite the ugliness its radiating. I’m constantly moaning and complaining about this and some people suggest I get extensions. Something about having fake hair seems so…fake. I’m not that desperate! What’s the point of this post? Not sure. Maybe take it as a sign to not cut your hair if you’re thinking about it.
