Disposable cameras

The other day I was carrying around a disposable camera that I wanted to get developed. Someone asked me why I would bother taking pictures with a disposable when I have a perfectly (well- not so perfect, after two and half years of wear and tear its moving as fast as an elderly person) fine DSLR. Well, the truth is I actually enjoy taking pictures with a disposable. I like the grainy look the crappy camera produces as well as having an actual print to take home.

Under my bed, you’ll find a box full of prints from my high school years. In my iPhoto, you’ll find thousands (6,372 to be exact. Yes- time to delete some) of digital pictures from my high school years. Which have a better chance of surviving till the end? The actual physical prints. What if Apple goes out of business (yeah right) and won’t save my beautiful Macbook after its been crashed? What if Hurricane Andrew pt.2 comes and my Macbook drowns? Yeah, probably none of those events will ever occur but I actually enjoy having a picture I can physically hold in my hand. The End.

To accompany my rant, I’ve included some prints from the past years.

My old dock and Marco! Two things I’ll never forget because of this picture….

A house in which I spent most of my junior/senior year at. One I’ll never forget because of this picture….

My best friend for most of high school and beyond. I’ll never forget her because……you get the picture right?

An awesome trip to California summer of 2007.

Long Beach? 2007. (obviously I did not have a scanner at the time)

Pismo Beach 2007.

The countless trips to Marine Stadium in high school. ( I still have nightmares of the roof caving in while on top)

Laguna Beach 2007
the end.

You have obviously always been into photography, great pics. You may like the hipstamatic app for iphone if you have one (and if you have a mac my guess is you do?) It takes grainy old school looking pics and is a steal at $1.99:)

Alright, I’m such a nerrrdddd!! I’ve been excited to sit down at the computer and tell you (bc I knew you’d appreciate how awesome it is) about something really amazing. It’s called Geo Caching. you can go to http://www.geocaching.com It’s basically a treasure hunt that goes on all over the world. They give you GPS locations of different spots where they have hidden a little treasure. You take something and you leave something and sign a log. It goes on ALL over the world. Check it out! Theres even an iphone app for it. It’s SO much fun.
