My Favorite Places: Daily Bread
by Elizabeth Jaime posted at February 28th, 2011
Since I am in Miami this week, I figured this week’s installation of “My Favorite Places” would feature one of my favorite Miami places. And so, I present to you Daily Bread. Located off of US1 in the Pinecrest area of Miami, Daily Bread offers some of the best Mediterranean and Greek food in Miami. I’m a sucker for Mediterranean food, so this place really does it for me.
The first time I went to Daily bread, I was brought by a friend and actually didn’t really like–just because I had never been exposed to that kind of food. However, after a few after school trips, Daily bread became one of my go-to spots. I usually order the falafel platter that comes with hummus, tabbouleh, greek salad, and falafel. They also offer several mediterranean and middle-eastern products to go.
Stay tuned for some pictures of Miami tomorrow!

Miami
by Elizabeth Jaime posted at February 25th, 2011
After what seemed to be the longest week in history of weeks, I’m off to Miami for a few days. And, can you believe it, I’m actually looking forward to it! Rewind a year ago and I would have told you I strongly dislike (I would say hate but Nicholas is trying to get that word out of my vocabulary–it’s such a strong word) Miami and that you’d have to pay me to come back. However, I do miss the warmth, and the beaches, and my family. Maybe I’ll have to move bac…..ha! Yeah, right. You thought I was going to say I wanted to move back, didn’t you? I love New York and there is nowhere else I want to live. Except maybe Paris. But we’ll talk about that later. This post is about me going to Miami, remember?

Piano
by Elizabeth Jaime posted at February 24th, 2011This is my friend Bjorn. Bjorn plays the piano (really well) but doesn’t like to be recorded. I, however, managed to sneak my camera around and capture him playing Yann Tiersen (he actually hates playing this song but everyone loves it so he always has no choice) after our delicious dinner. I don’t have much else to say besides that I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. There’s nothing I enjoy more than sitting with a glass of wine and listening to some music.

My Favorite Places: SATURDAYS NYC
by Elizabeth Jaime posted at February 21st, 2011Every once in a while I get emails and comments calling for suggestions of some cool New York City spots to eat, hangout, get coffee, shop, ect. So, I thought I’d install a new category called “My Favorite Places” where each Monday, I’ll post about a favorite place of mine in hopes of you one day enjoying it as well!

Today’s spot is Saturdays, a pretty amazing coffee shop that combines the best of both worlds –surf and coffee. At Saturdays, they brew the well-known La Colombe coffee which is honestly my favorite bean in the city (Sorry, Stumptown!), while transporting you to the placidity of some of the world’s most famous breaks. If you venture to the back of the store, you’ll find plenty of cool clothing, including their own line of tees, as well as a backyard patio where you can sit and contemplate what size you’re going to buy one of their shirts in.

If you ever find yourself in the SoHo area (which I’m sure most of you will), I highly recommend checking Saturdays out. It’s located on my favorite street, Crosby Street, and the intersection of Grand Street. Every morning I wake up and contemplate walking all the way from Ludlow just to get a sip of coffee and hang out.

Friday
by Elizabeth Jaime posted at February 18th, 2011
Are you as happy as I am that it is Friday? I sure hope so. For some reason, this week really dragged on and there is nothing more I am looking forward to than a long weekend. Today in New York, the weather is so, so nice –we’re going to have a high of sixty-three degrees. Can you believe that? I’d like to say Spring is here but my weather app is saying it’s going to snow/rain on Tuesday. Yuck. However, in exactly a week I’ll be going to Miami. I never thought I’d be saying this but I’m looking forward to the heat. xx

Dinner Party
by Elizabeth Jaime posted at February 13th, 2011
I’ve come to the realization that Ludlow throws at least two “dinner parties” a month. Usually, Nicholas and I are left in charge of cooking, however, last night we were exempt of all cooking duties (besides the Tiramisu I made. More on that later). Christie decided she was going to make two lasagnas; one with a bechamel sauce, swiss-chard, and mushrooms, and another with red sauce and roasted veggies. They both came out great but, half-way through my second serving of the beschamel lasagna, I decided I could probably have about three more servings (note: I didn’t really, though!) As usual, we were surrounded by good friends which always makes for a perfect dinner party.

Lately, I’ve been wearing fishtail braids in my hair. At first, I didn’t know how to do them but after a quick youtube-training session, I was braiding my hair almost everyday. It’s my quick go-to hair style. What’s yours?

The Past Few Days
by Elizabeth Jaime posted at February 1st, 2011
We’ve had a lot of snow here (and we’re expecting more!), so the last few days have been spent lounging around, eating lots of Halumi, and discovering all the snow mans around town.
I also haven’t updated in a few days because I was waiting for the layout change. Walah! Do you like it?
