The Central Coast

I’m off to California in a couple of weeks and need some help! Nicholas and I will be spending the majority of our time in Orange County, where his family lives, however, we’re thinking of making a little trip upstate. We’d love to stay in a seaside town in the central coast (think Big Sur, Santa Barbara, ect.) however, we’re open to any suggestions. So, do you know of any place we should definitely visit? Please let me know in the comments!

I’m really looking forward to this part of our trip because I’m absolutely in love with California’s central and northern coast. In 2007, Mollie and I drove from LA to San Fransisco and I was in complete awe at the beautiful scenery while driving on the Pacific Coast Highway. It sounds cheesy, but it’s definitely a trip I’ll always remember (I’m pretty sure it was also my first vacation without my family so, that’s pretty memorable in itself!) The picture in this post is from that trip. It was taken in Pismo Beach where you were able to drive your car on to the beach–so cool!

San Francisco is kind of a far drive from Orange County so Santa Barbara would be a great trip! Im in LA and Santa Barbara is about 1 1/2 hours from here. SF is about 6 hours from me so even further from Orange County area. Pismo beach is beautiful too!! Hopefully by the time you are here the weather will be better!! Have a great trip.

    Hi ladies,

Thanks for the great suggestions. I think we’ve decided to drive to Santa Barbara, stay there a few days, then drive north to wherever our little hearts desire!

I went to San Francisco last year and drove down to Carmel. It is definitely the cutest little place ever. It is very classy and if you decide to go there, there is this little english chocolate shop named “The Cottage of Sweets” and it is so adorable. There is also a little flower perfumery in the “court of fountains” and its so lovable. The church was very cute, and overall it was such a classy place with very friendly people. I high suggest it because it was so lovely.
