One thing I really enjoy about coming to California is the amazing food we eat while visiting Nicholas’ parents. Most of the food is homemade, and I thought I’d compile a few post sharing some of the recipes. Today, I’ll tell you guys about Nicholas’ dad homemade jam. Every morning, we all sit down for tea and eat some toast with jam.

Here’s a rough recipe for homemade jam:
-Pick out the fruit you’d like and cut it into small pieces.
-Put fruit in bowl and add equal parts sugar. (ex: One pound of strawberries = one pound of sugar. Also, depending on the tartness/sweetness of the fruit you have chosen, you can play with the amount of sugar)
-Mix sugar and fruit together and let sit over night.
-When you wake up in the morning, you should have a soupy, liquid mixture. Put that mixture to boil.
-Once the mixture comes to a boil, turn down to medium heat and let simmer for a few more minutes till the consistency is just right.
And walah! You’ve got jam!
Here is the professional jam maker and his family!
