After we left Morro Bay, we drove about two hours north and finally made it to the Big Sur area. A few miles up a windy, scary, very elevated road, we came across a road block.
Apparently, last week there had been a huge rock slide that closed off the Pacific Coast Highway. This was a real bummer. We were already about half hour away from Monterrey and would have to backtrack south about an hour, east an hour, and then north again about two hours. It was a huge road block. We eventually decided to just cancel our hotel in Monterrey and head back to Orange County. Not before enjoying the scenery though!
