I was still living in Miami and was really wanting a Chanel purse–it was a classic bag that I could wear with just about anything. However, due to an expensive price tag, this was something that wasn’t going to happen for a while–something I was totally okay with.
One day, I stopped into a Goodwill store I use to frequent every so often. I looked around with my usual disappointed face until my eyes sort of zoomed into this one part of the store where the handbags where. There it was–quilted, red, and perfect. I grabbed it really quickly, as if someone was trying to beat me to it (there was no one else in the store), and ran to the cashier asking how much it was. Honestly, I was expecting to pay at least a hundred dollars. I was super surprised when the cashier guy told me it was only $5. I thought I had struck gold and automatically paid the five dollars. I ran out the door with my (real?) Chanel bag.
After staring at it for a few minutes, I had to find out if it was real. So, I made my way over to Bloomingdale’s, where I was working at the time and took my purse to the purse expert (a lady I had befriended and knew everything there was to know about handbags.) She sized it up, nodded her head, and let me know that without a doubt, it was real. I was super happy–not just because owned a Chanel purse but because I had only paid $5 for it!
I’ve had it for about two years now and it definitely shows some wear and tear (I wore it everyday for about a year) so it’s found a new home on my shelf until I take it to be revamped. Do you have any awesome Good Will stories?
