Italy: Lake Como

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at July 23rd, 2011

After the wedding Nicholas, Bjorn, Jim, Ziva, and I headed north to Lake Como–one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. We stayed at the Terminus, visited Villa D’Este, and took a boat trip to Bellagio.

Now Nicholas, Bjorn, and I find ourselves in Ancona hanging out at Nicholas’ family’s house. Ciao!

Italy: The Wedding

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at July 22nd, 2011

It’s moments like this weekend when one realizes how lucky they are. What more can one ask for than being in a beautiful little town in Italy with all your friends? Last Friday, Nicholas and I arrived in the little hill top town of Barga which is located in Tuscany. Most of our New York friends were already here for our friends Dave and Kristin’s wedding. We obviously expected an amazing time but what we got was really five star. I’d love to share the details!

The cocktail hour and ceremony were held at a local Agriturismo. Agriturismos are basically like a bed and breakfast except everything that is served there is grown on the premises (a post on that coming later!) We sipped on some champagne, played patonk (spelling?!), and enjoyed aperetivo hour under the Tuscan sun (yes, I said it!)

You can see Barga in the background–the town we stayed in.

Everyone was handed parasols to protect ourselves from that same Tuscan sun. It was hot!

Nicholas and I!

After the ceremony and some light munching, we all made our way to “The Villa”–the villa Kristin and Dave rented out for the week for all the festivities. Most of us stayed in the Villa while we were in Barga while some sought refuge in local hotels–being with all your friends, every minute, for four days can be exhausting at times! Nonetheless, the Villa was so amazing. Beautiful views and you felt like you were in the olden days with all the decor. Anyway, Kristin and Dave decided to hold the reception at the Villa because it’s very close to the apartment they lived in when they first moved to Italy. This place was the perfect setting.

We started off with a risotto that somehow had strawberry infused in it. It was good and the strawberry flavor was subtle so it worked out great!

I had an amazing steak for dinner.

Bon Voyage!

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at July 14th, 2011

Today, Nicholas and I take off to Italy! I’m very excited to eat pasta (even though I know I’ll regret saying that in three weeks when all I’ve had to eat is pasta!) swim in the frigid (but nice…) European waters, and just relax! Nicholas and I will arrive in Florence where we will then drive to a small town called Barga. We’re attending a wedding with all our friends and will then make it to the Cinque Terre! After that is Lake Como then Ancona to spend time with Nicholas’ family. I can’t wait! I will try to post as often as I can! xx

Weekend Instagrams

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at July 11th, 2011

This weekend was pretty relaxing. Nicholas and I just wanted to take it easy since we’re leaving to Italy on Thursday. Okay, what I really mean is that we’re already in vacation-mode already and felt like doing absolutely nothing. Yeah–typical, right? Unfortunately, I have a pretty busy week ahead of me (papers! internships! meetings! ahh!), however, it will all be worth it come Thursday! Oh, and my new favorite app? Instagram. I’m late, obviously, but I’ve been trying all the other ones that don’t even compare to Instagram’s price (free!) and simplicity.

Happy (Belated) Birthday, In Between Seams!

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at July 7th, 2011

I feel terrible. My little blog here turned two years old about a week ago and I didn’t even notice. I’m a bad mother, I know. However, I’m proud to say that I’ve been able to keep blogging for two years now. Of course, I’ve had my weeks of silence although, I think that only makes for betting blogging–only posting when you have something meaningful to say.

I’m also happy that in my two years of blogging, I’ve been able to gain readers (and have lost some!) while staying true to my blogging ways. Over-promotion, as well as outfit-of-the day posts, I’ve realized, are just not the way I roll–just in the same way that I’ve tried to keep In Between Seams from venturing off its path and too much into a fashion-related blog. Through my random recipes, indulgences in photography, and just every-day rants, I hope that I’ve been able to keep you interested in not just my blog–but beauty, life, and the little things.

So, in celebration of In Between Seam’s second birthday, I’ll be hosting a giveaway later today. So, stay tuned!
