Apple Festival

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at September 19th, 2011

With the recent chill that has descended upon Manhattan, I was super excited to attend this years Apple Festival which is held down the street from my apartment on Orchard Street. The festival actually commemorates the fact that the Lower East Side used to be an Apple Orchard Farm owned by a French man named Delancey. Now you know why we have Orchard and Delancey Street!

Nicholas, Jennifer, and I walked over to the festival which definitely had more people this year than last. After taking a look at all the different apple creations local vendors could come up with, I made my way to Red Jacket Orchard’s stand where they were selling some freshly picked apples. I bought one Honeycrisp to enjoy for myself and six of another apple to make an Apple Crumble!

More on my apple crumble coming soon! x

A Giveaway!

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at September 15th, 2011

Bucco Capensis was nice enough to send me some great Belgian slippers that are really everywhere now. As much as I’d love to have three pairs all to myself, I decided I would give away one pair on my blog. This specific pair I am giving away, as you can see, has a zebra pattern. No real zebras were hurt in the making of these shoes though.

The shoes are a size eight (sorry if you’re not that size!) To enter, just comment on this post and follow me on GoogleReader, and follow Bucco on Facebook for updates! If you’re already following me on GoogleReader, then follow me on Bloglovin or something. Figure it out! Ha. A winner will be announced in two weeks! Good luck!

UPDATE: Lauren Leyva is the winner of the contest! Thanks for playing.

Today, I’d like to share with you some music. I have a friend, Sam Friend, who I’ve known for some time now and who plays/sings/performs some great tunes. I won’t go all Pitchfork on you guys and comment on the melodies and high notes but, I just hope that his music will make you feel as good as it makes me feel.

HONOR SS12

by Elizabeth Jaime posted at September 14th, 2011

Firstly, let me apologize for my absence. For the first time in my life, I’m actually getting paid to write/ do things and am not just receiving “school credit”! That first step from interning to actually making money is exciting but quite stressful! Between school and my new freelancing work, I’ve found myself with little time for my most prized possession–my blog. However, today is the first day in the past week that I have nowhere to be. And, while I still have some school work/writing to do, I told myself I would update my blog!

As most of you know, it’s fashion week here in New York. Besides crowded 1 trains and non-existent empty cabs, there is actually some cool clothes to be looked at. On Saturday, I attended Honor’s Spring 2012 show. I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before but Nicholas (my boyfriend!) is a film producer and assistant director. He teamed up with our neighbor, producer/director H.Spencer Young, and a bunch of other people to create a short film of Honor’s runway show and current collection. So, needless to say, I wanted to check out all the action. What I saw was one of the most beautiful collections I’ve seen in a while. No, really. If you didn’t already know this about me, I love really feminine, dainty clothing and this collection was just that. Inspired by a photo of Catherine Deneuve (pictured below) on her wedding day, all the pieces looked like something I’d love to wear every day of my life.

Here are some photos of the collection. Hope you love it as much as I do!
